Prefinished Flooring - the term
"pre-finished" refers to a wood-flooring
product that have a factory applied finish coat and is ready
for installation right out of the box. These types of floors

Prefinished floors come in a variety of widths and thickness.
Solid Prefinished Floors are 3/4" thick and
are designed for nail-down installations.
Engineered Prefinished Floors are thinner, commonly
3/8", 1/2" or 9/16", and are constructed
in layers like plywood. This type of floors can be nailed
down over most subfloors or glued down directly
over concrete.
Prefinished Floating Floors are also constructed
in layers and are commonly produced in large panels. These
types of floors are tongue and grooved, and glued to each
other; can be floated over most existing subfloors or concrete
with the proper foam and vapor barrier used for underlayment.
Floating Floor - a system where
the flooring is laid onto a layer of underlay.
The individual planks are glued to each other, but are not
glued or fixed to the subfloor itself, instead
they form a system that floats on the underlay.

are injected into the wood itself, creating a super-hard,

such as shopping malls and restaurants, as well as in busy
